Description
The high Andean range that occupies central Peru north and east of Lima is so vastly different than the rest of the country you’ll think you are on another continent entirely. It is rugged and majestic, pristine and mystical. Favored by mountain climbers equally as by city folk looking to escape the desert heat for some alpine cool, there are many cities spread across the region to base yourself from. But the most popular of all of them is Huaraz, where we offer several tours that will be sure to please.
All tour packages described below are a full day and the price is per person, with a minimum of two persons required and 48 hours minimum advance notice. The guides speak Spanish as their first language, but are conversational in English.

These lagoons have their origin in the snowmelt of the surrounding mountain peaks. The first lagoon is larger and deeper (28 meters) and impressive due to the intensity of its turquoise waters, while the second is enclosed by huge, almost vertical granite walls. Its waters are blue and it is located at the end of the glacial valley. In both lagoons there are facilities for travelers. In Chinancocha you can rent boats, horse rides and there is a camping area and a beautiful path called María Josefa that crosses a queñual forest (Polylepis), a tall Andean tree. For its part, Orconcocha has a camping area and a park rangers station. --Along the way we will stop at a viewpoint to see the dramatic view of the Andes mountain range, the towns of Carhuaz and Caraz, the buried town of Yungay (entirely covered by an avalanche in 1970, the artisan town of Tarica for pottery), and lunch in a tourist restaurant. | What's included: Pick-up from your hotel in Huaraz.
